Foot Pain at Work? Five Safety Boot Features to Check

Foot Pain at Work? Five Safety Boot Features to Check

If your feet ache at work, the problem may be visible in the way your boots move.

These five quick checks reveal whether a boot is supporting the foot or asking it to do extra work.

Check flex and twist

Bend the boot with both hands. It should flex near the ball of the foot, not fold through the middle.

Then test torsional stability. A boot that twists too easily may provide limited control on uneven surfaces.

Check the heel and fastening

Press the heel counter. It should feel firm enough to resist collapse and hold the rearfoot securely.

Laces let you adjust support as the leather settles. A zip is useful for access, but it should work alongside properly adjusted laces.

Look inside the boot

Remove the insole and inspect its shape. A long arch profile and deep heel cup provide more meaningful support than a flat piece of foam.

Also check the cushioning beneath it and replace compressed or damaged insoles before they stop doing their job.
