This is a deep plantar forefoot corn
This is a deep plantar forefoot corn. You can see the thick layer of overlying callus that’s built up from repeated pressure under the forefoot. That pressure drives the core of the corn deeper into the skin, which is why these are so painful to walk on. In this treatment, we first remove the overlying callus to fully expose the corn. We then carefully enucleate the central core to relieve pressure and pain. Because this one is quite deep and sensitive, we don’t take it all out in one session. Removing too much at once can cause unnecessary discomfort, so we stage the treatment. This patient will return in around five days, once the area has settled, and we’ll complete the removal and address the cause to stop it coming back. Follow along for part two.
