Reducing a Broad Callus Beneath the Forefoot

Foot health explained

Reducing a Broad Callus Beneath the Forefoot

A broad yellow callus has developed beneath the inner forefoot, with the thickest skin concentrated under the ball of the foot. The raised area is reduced gradually with a scalpel.

Working From the Centre Outwards

The foot is supported firmly while the blade is held almost parallel to the sole. Controlled strokes remove fine layers from the dense centre before moving across the wider border of thickened skin.

Blending the Callus Edge

As each layer is cleared, the contrast between the callus and surrounding skin becomes less pronounced. The final passes smooth the remaining edge so the forefoot surface appears flatter and more even.
